Abstract

In the last 20 years, diverse specialists have questioned the idyllic image that America has more than enough the native columnists they transmitted regarding that in this continent serious illnesses neither epidemics were not known. By means of the advances in “paleopathology and paleodemography has been demonstrated that before the contact with the Europeans, in the America ore-columbian frequently happened epidemics, famines and wars, what diminished the espectativas of life and the rate of mortality increased. In this rehearsal the literature recent envelope is examined the illness and the health in the continent to know which the biggest causes of death were in several regions of the hemisphere in the prehispanic time with what tries to offer a more exact interpretation of the patterns of health and mortality in the New World before 1492.
